Sneezing in Cats – How to Indicate a Cause of such Symptom?


A lot of us notice that pets often sneeze and rub noses because of rheum.  However, very few people know what to do in such situations. Firstly, it’s important to find out a reason of sneezing in cats.

Why a Cat Sneezes?

A usual dust in nose can be the reason of sneezing process. But when it happens too often, a serious illnesses and deviations can be the cause too. The reasons are:

What to Do if a Cat Sneezes?

If you noticed that your cat began to sneeze more often and its eyes water, it could get sick with eye infection. In this case, an owner should put chamomile solution on its eyes. The solution will soothe the inflammation and your kitten won’t sneeze anymore. Sometimes the kitten can have foreign objects in its nose. It starts to snort and scratch the nose. The owner can remove the object, using special forceps. Swollen eyes and difficulties while breathing are the signs of the allergy. The owner should see a doctor who suggests antihistamines. In the most serious cases, if sneezing doesn’t stop and it’s followed by blood, you have to go to a vet immediately. It could be caused by some oncological diseases or injuries of nose passage. A Cat Won’t Stop Sneezing. How to Treat it at Home?

After the tests the vet tells the diagnosis and prescribes the cure. Viral infections are cured with nasal drops, antibiotics or other anti-inflammatory drugs, which kill the germs and viruses. The most effective antibiotics are Maxidine and Phosprenyl. They impede the adverse impact of germs and viruses. Baxinum and Gamavit contribute to pet’s restoration after the illness and have positive impact on health as well. Herbal infusions and potions also have good effect on curing infectious diseases.

If the cat has dental diseases, a stomatology consult is necessary. After the treatment the pet won’t have gun inflammation, bad smell will be gone and so will be sneezing.

Allergic sneezing can be cured with antihistamines. It is important to remove the allergen from the house. You also have to clean the house more often and the dust will not disturb you anymore. Sneezing caused by mold should be cured with antifungals. These are ointments and creams. The owner has to put them in cat’s nose.  Mold also affects your health as well, so you should get rid of it very fast. If the pet has herpes, Lysine should be used. The medicine fights the virus. After that, the kitten will feel better. The dosage and the instruction are in the package. Parasitic worms are cured with anthelmintics in drops or tablet forms. The drugs are chosen individually by the doctor.

The cat with cancer, leukemia or any other oncological disease have to be treated a veterinary clinic. The doctors there will monitor its health 24 hours a day. This measure prolongs your pet’s lifespan and helps it to recover as fast as possible.

Preventive measures

You have to care for the health of your pet since the early of its life. A newborn kitten needs to be vaccinated to grow healthy. It must be done since 6 months. Vaccinations have to be repeated every 45-60 days. Since 15 weeks of vaccination, it is done at least once per year. These are the vaccines which help to keep kitten in good health:

However, if the pet is already ill, try to create needed conditions for the speedy recovery.  You should buy necessary drugs, consult the doctor and do exactly what you are told.
