The disease is characterized by inflammation of the gray matter of the brain, the outcome of which will be epilepsy, paralysis, and in the worst case — death. In cats with disorders in the immune system the symptoms of the disease appear in 2-3 hours after the bite. There are convulsions, fever, vomiting, excessive salivation. In healthy cats, the encephalitis begins with prostration, discharge from eyes and nose, mild fever. After 1-2 weeks, the disease turns into chronic meningitis or ends in death. You should avoid heavy pressure on the insect, otherwise a large amount of his saliva gets in the body of a cat. The saliva may contain the causative agent of the disease. To prevent the attack of mites, it is necessary to adhere to certain rules. During the seasonal activation of mites (from March to May and from August to October) it is recommended to protect cats with low immunity, as well as pregnant and lactating cats from going outside. Healthy cats should wear special collars, containing a substance for repelling blood-sucking bugs, for example, fentanyl before walk in the yard. As a prevention of bites, protective sprays and drops (Frontline, Bars Forte, Combo, Biofar) are also used.

But these medications do not give a 100% guarantee of protection, so after each walk it is necessary to inspect the skin of the pet and comb it with a comb.
