cat does not bend its limb
  1. Growths. If the cat does not bend its paw and the master is sure that there have recently been no any accidents with the animal, then pet should be inspected for the appearance of neoplasms. Even a tiny papilloma that grows at the bend, can cause significant discomfort to the pet, which makes it painful to bend and unbend the limb. Papillomas are considered benign growths that are removed using cryodestruction or a laser. The place of localization of the growth is anesthetized before removal, anesthesia is not used. A little scar in the size of a small button remains at the removal area. There are also growths that appear after foreign bodies get under the skin. They overgrow, not inflamed, but in places where the limbs are bent, they can cause discomfort to the animal during movement.
  2. Wound. To get wounds animal can while actively playing with another cats. Wounds are different – scratches, abrasions, cuts or bites. Hardly ever small scratches and erosion can cause such pain that the cat will not bend its paw. But deep cuts and inflamed bites can become the most annoying factor. It is necessary to visit a veterinarian if cat has multiple lacerations or prolonged bleeding (this is usually observed after fights with cats and dogs ). Other wounds can be treated with help of disinfectants. If the pus or redness are present it is better to apply a bandage and some ointment. The main thing is not to let the animal lick the medicine!
  3. Injury. The most frequently occurred cause why paw does not bent in cat. Pets always face with bruises, dislocations and fractures after a fall or unsuccessful landing during an active game. Bruises heal quickly, rarely perform great discomfort to the animal. It is more complicated with dislocations because such injuries must be managed in a hospital (some masters try to do this on their own at home, but only cause excruciating pain to their pets and exacerbate the trauma). Dislocations should be corrected by a specialist only after radiography. In difficult cases may need surgery. Most common situation is – a hip dislocation, due to which the cat’s hind paw may not bend. A bandage and limitation of mobility will only help if you contact your veterinarian in a timely manner.
  4. Broken paw. It is more different than injury according to its complication, diagnostic measures and treatment. Even an unsuccessful fall from a sofa or chair can turn into a broken limb for a cat. If the cat does not bend its paw, and when it is touched, it experiences severe pain, then the probability of a fracture should be excluded. It is possible to realize only in a clinic, where an animal is given an x-ray of a damaged limb. The necessity of surgery is determined in each case, when there is a risk of limb deformation or with open fractures. If soft tissue damage is present along with the fracture some ointments are prescribed. Fractures without displacement heal well, without causing any complications in the future. Open and multiple fractures without surgical intervention can lead to lifelong lameness of the animal.

It is very important to go to veterinarian as soon as possible to avoid complications of situation. Masters should be more attentive their pets.
